Thanks for visiting my fundraising page.

I will be taking part in November in an exciting charity event that brings two projects together.

The Nakuru Bore Hole and School Project will make a significant difference to ex-street orphans in Kenya by providing fresh water and a decent education for them in Nakuru, a remote township some 150kms from Nairobi. We are aiming at a target of £36,000 in total for the cost of the bore hole in Nakuru that will also provide reliable water supplies for the orphanage. In addition some funding will go towards a school roof for the orphanage and we will be participating in the building of the roof whilst out there in November.

There will also be sponsorship money going towards places for young adults from tough inner-city estates in the UK to accompany us in this potentially life-changing event, challenging them away from anti-social behaviour to become positive citizens.

Originally planned as a sponsored bike ride, due to security issues in Nairobi, Catalyst has changed this to a sponsored trek. This will take us through 25 km of the rugged bush landscape of the Rift Valley to raise funds to be donated to the Nakuru community. The participants will be young people from tough inner city backgrounds mentored , supported and encouraged by business people from Devon, Oxfordshire ( That's me in case you're not sure!) and London. The young people have shown a willingness to better themselves by committing to a 12 month program called COACH - a Community Leadership programme that aims to enable them to become positive leaders in their community.

In total, well over 150 Kenyans will benefit from this project every day as well as 10 young adults from the UK.

Apart from risking life and limb on the roof of the school, there are all the dangers of Africa involved. So please dig deep ! Part of the role is also to set an example for these young guys. The jury is out as to whether I really qualify !

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It's also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Catalyst Urban Trust gets your money faster and, if you're a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation. So please sponsor me now!

Thanks for your support.

Cheers

Mark
