As part of the Area 49 challenge to raise £10,000 for Scottish Cot Death Trust, both Paul Johnstone & George Shiels from Kinross-shire Round Table will be embarking on their trek of the West Highland Way starting 22nd May. They intend to complete the 95 miles in 4 days. Afterwhich on day 5, they will climb the UK's highest mountain Ben Nevis with a few other Tablers and Fundraisers. We intend to have a Teddy Bears picnic half way up to help raise awareness of the great things SCDT do!

MAY UPDATE...We felt that it would be good to give you all an update with the sibling resource. So far, we have held meetings with parents and families to gather feedback on what may have helped parents at the time of their loss. We gained online feedback from those who wanted to contribute but were unable to attend any of the meeting. We then shared all this information with SCDT staff and tried to work out what the key messages were. We are now in the process of working with a company to put all of these idea's into a resource to help parents. This is no easy task. We want this resource to be as effective as possible, one of the most frequently asked questions from parents after the sudden and unexpected loss of a baby or child is 'how do I tell my other children?' This is such a traumatic experience that families need help and support to work with their children and to give them space to talk about what has happen to their world. We believe that providing this first ever resource will be the first step in giving families something positive to use to support the brothers and sisters. We really do want to thank every person who is working with us to make this resource real. Cost to produce this very important resource will be approximately £8,000.00 Thank you for caring.

So please give generously and keep watching our progress on this page.

Mark Mitchell says..."I am joining with Wilma Carragher in her skydiving A-Team. We hope to raise awareness and much needed funds for The Scottish Cot Death Trust in memory of her son Andrew".

You can read Wilma's story below, thanks for your support.

Andrew Carragher 24th May 1990 - 13th September 1990

Andrew Carragher was born on 24th May 1990 - a lovely little lad to join the Carragher Clan!

Andrew was with us for just under 4 months, before cot death claimed his little life on September 13th 1990.

Andrew would have turned 21 this year and to mark the occasion I would like to bring more awareness of cot death and the devastation it leaves behind. We miss him every day and Andrew will always be our little star.

To remember all our little stars, we have decided to take part in a Skydive on Saturday 28th May to remember Andrew and raise much needed funds for the Scottish Cot Death Trust in his memory!

Making up the A -Team and taking the plunge with me are - My friend Jen Deas (from Complete Look), Paul Bell (Area Chairman of Area 49 Round Table), Mark Mitchell (Treasurer of Area 49 Round Table), Robert King and Gordon McKay (both senior pupils at Dollar Academy)!

Thank you to Paul Bell, who is the Area Chairman of Area 49 Round Table, who accepted the challenge and will be joining us for our Skydive (after some not very gentle persuasion). We really appreciate the support of Paul and the Kinross Round Table, who have pledged to support the Trust for the next year!

Every 9 days a child dies in Scotland from cot death. The Trust is the ONLY charity in Scotland dedicated to the issue of cot death!

The Trust has 3 main aims:

To support the families devastated by a cot death

To educate professionals who are involved with the health and well being of children

To research the causes of cot death

The Trust receives just 3% of their annual income from the Government, so virtually all their income is fundraised!

'Andrew your light will always shine brightly'

Please help us remember Andrew and all the other little stars and support our Skydive!

Thank you x
