Story
It started as all the great plans do, in a Pub.On the 31st of May,myself and two other crew members of the Falmouth Lifeboat plan to ride from John o Groats to Land's End on Monkey bikes, a trip of some 1000 miles. Why? i hear you ask. We're doing it for 2 reasons, the first is for the Lizard lifeboat Tamar appeal and second but not least Sea Sanctuary. We'll be shortly setting up a second page for Sea Sanctuary.
The Lizard Lifeboat Station are raising funds (£1.8m) for a new Tamar class Lifeboat.Compared with the current 22-year-old Tyne class boat, the new Tamar will be faster, more highly-equipped and even safer for the volunteer crews when they are called out to help others. Because of The Lizard’s remote location, many of the shouts take place in exposed seas, and the lifeboat is often at sea for many hours at a stretch. As a result it is important that we help equip the crew with the safest and newest technology available. http://thelizardlifeboat.co.uk/tamar.htm
Sea Sanctuary is an innovative marine based service and is the first of its kind in European waters. They provide comprehensive mental health care on board a 43ft classic yacht, catering for young people and adults alike. Sea Sanctuary provides therapy, education/training and respite care and is available to individuals principally within Cornwall, but also the wider UK. Sea Sanctuary seeks to address the very real issue of mental health well-being for those who most need it. http://www.sea-sanctuary.co.uk/
So thanks for taking the time to look at our page and thanks in advance for your donations.
Cheers,
Mark, Joe and Alastair
