On Sunday, 11th October I am running the EDF Energy Birmingham Half Marathon on behalf of Birmingham St Mary's Hospice.
St Mary's Hospice makes the small changes that can make the big difference to people’s lives.
We care for over 1,000 people each year suffering from life-limiting illnesses such as Cancer, Motor Neurone Disease and Multiple Sclerosis.
Our aim is to give people the best possible quality of life for whatever time remains to them, supporting them and their families, for as long as they need us.
Where your money goes
Birmingham St Mary’s Hospice cares for over 1,000 local families every year. We are a charity and make no charge to our patients or their families for the services provided.
Over 85 pence in every £1 we spend goes directly on patient care, and our services currently cost over £15,600 day (£650 per hour).
There are over 160 paid staff (and what would we do without the help of our 250 volunteers?).
What your donation could buy
Although we do have occasional need for new items of equipment, our biggest challenge is meeting the day-to-day costs of caring for patients. For example, your gift could fund the following items:
