100 DAYS LEFT: awww wow my first £10 I've ever raised all by myself for charity! Thanks fill! 7 miles tonight! :)

This charity is one that's really important to me, my family, and I'm sure many other people throughout Yorkshire. The work they do is fantastic! Not only do they provide support to children and families battling cancer, but they invest in continuous research into the treatment and cures for childhood cancer and also supply additional funding where possible for equipment and staffing in hospitals.

I found this on the candlelighters website -

"When a child is diagnosed with cancer it often inspires the people around them to offer help and support in the form of fundraising.  But fundraising isn’t just limited to people directly affected by the experience of cancer - anyone can help!

One of the main things I have learnt is that Cancer cannot be predicted, and it's never expected. Anyone can be diagnosed at any time. What Candlelighter's has said is true, but for me it shouldn't take that child to be diagnosed for us to feel inspired.

** Almost 500 children are diagnosed with leukaemia every year in the UK. More than half of these children are under the age of five years.**

As many of the people I grew up with know, I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia at the age of 5. I spent two years in and out of Saint James' Hospital in Leeds undergoing Chemotherapy. This was hard, I missed a lot of school, I missed my friends, I had horrible moodswings, operations, needles and (probably the worst as far as i was concerned) I lost my hair. I was lucky enough to finally finish my treatment at the age of 7. This was a very difficult time for not only me, but also my family who were affected by this just as much as I was. We all feel greatful for the help of all the wonderful staff we met along the way but also the research that has gone on behind the scenes to enable Leukemia to be treated.

Around 4 children are diagnosed with cancer every day, I'd like to raise as much money as I can to enable Candlelighters to support these families.

I will be cycling 600 miles in 100 days (starting on the 14th May untill the 22nd August 2012). I am not fit, I am not strong, and I'm not 'skilled' in the art of bike riding! But for these next 100 days I will be dedicated to riding little and often to reach my target and any support would be greatly appreciated!

Please dig deep and donate now. :)
