I set up this page to remember Martin when I would normally be buying presents for him: for his birthday on 27th June and for Christmas.
The Hammer Horror film actor Ralph Bates (Dr Jekyll, Sister Hyde) died in 1991 when he was only 50 from pancreatic cancer. His circumstances were very similar to Martin's: he was almost the same age; he lived for the same length of time as Martin following his diagnosis and he died at the end of March. His wife and family were absolutely devastated - just like Martin's are now and always will be.
'The main objective of the Ralph Bates Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund is to provide grants for research into pancreatic cancer at University of London, now based in Cranmer Terrace, .
The grants enable equipment to be purchased or leased and cover the employment costs and expenses of researchers. At present the Fund has one researcher dedicated to research work at the Hospital with support being given as necessary by other researchers.'

I decided to send the amount I would have spent on presents for Martin to the Ralph Bates Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund and I intend to do so every year from now on. I set up this page in case anyone else would like to make a donation.
