My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

The thought of making an attempt at the Bob Graham round is one that has intrigued me for a couple of years. The historic 72-mile, 42-peak challenge, to be completed in less than 24 hours will be my greatest test to date!

When my dad, Grant, had a heart attack in February last year whilst in Coniston and was subsequently treated / airlifted by the NWAA, it became clear to me how vital this service is. This quickly led me to the decision to utilise my Bob Graham Round attempt to raise some money for the air ambulance.

I started training more seriously for the challenge 12 months ago and have steadily increased the intensity up to the 15 or so hours, 40 miles and 10,000ft of ascent per week on the fells that is needed to give this a go. Needless to say, I'm relieved that the dark, wet and cold winter evenings on the hills are just about over!

Many thanks for supporting and I'll keep you informed of my progress. Two months to go now!

Martin

My updates 19

A massive thanks to everyone who has donated so far.....but it's still not too late. People are still donating and we are very close now to the target. Remember, £2500 covers the cost of one air rescue.

Another £65 just in from friends and relatives. Amazing stuff. So close now to that target!

Some success with the photos but its still not playing ball!

06/06/12 19:53

Technical problem! The site isn't allowing me to add photos today - will keep trying.

05/06/12 13:16

£700 The total raised by Coniston Sailing Club over the weekend. That doesn't include all of the generous online donations made by the members. They have worked incredibly hard with cake stalls, raffles, buckets and bribery to make as much as they can during the regatta. Amazing!
