Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I ran the London 10k Run on 11 July and all of the sponsorship money I raise is going to the Bhopal Medical Appeal. It went well I completed it within my target time of 75 mins. The pic is of me apres run. Note beer bottles and medal!
I was inspired by my work colleages Mark and Louise (see photo) who ran a half marathon in Stratford on Avon in April. Its the first time I've done such a run.
Why the Bhopal Medical Appeal? Well ... I worked in Bhopal, India, as a community organiser in 1985-86 with the workers and their families and the trade unions, campaigning to get Union Carbide to take responsibility for the world's worst industrial accident which happened in December 1984. Tens of thousands of people died in one night and hundreds of thousands of people are still suffering from the after effects including children born today. This is the 25th anniversary year. Im still in touch as a core supporter of the Appeal.
You can find out more about the great work of the appeal, and the history of the Bhopal disaster, on the Bhopal Medical Appeal's website: http://www.bhopal.org/
