My story

I have had asthma all my life, and my brother has very serious asthma and has spent a lot of his life in and out of hospital. So this trek has a very personal reason for me.

I am lucky in the fact that I can control my asthma reasonably well with the help of my medication, and with all the walking that I'm doing now in preparation, I'm hoping to be in good shape by the time the trek comes round in May, although there really is no telling how I will react to the high altitude in Peru.

Asthma continues to be on the increase with there now being at least 5.2 million people in the UK suffering, with someone dying from asthma every 7 hours. Much of this can be avoided through better fitness, education, medication and support.

All money that I raise for Asthma UK will go to critical asthma research, and so will help in the advancement of the medications and knowledge developed for the treatment of asthma.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Asthma UK will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.

Martyn

p.s. if you would like any further information about the trek please do not hesitate to get in touch with either myself, or to check Asthma UK’s website www.asthma.org.uk or call the charity on 0207 786 5000.
