On February 20th this year I am running the Brighton Half Marathon, my first 'proper' race that's more than just twice round the park!
I am raising money in memory of my uncle Malcolm, who lost his fight against cancer just before Christmas. Jo's Friends is a charity raising awareness of and supporting those affected by cancer of an unknown primary cause (CUP), and their carers and families. Finding the origin of cancer is essential to treating it effectively, but for sufferers of CUP it may be impossible to define the origin making treatment difficult and ineffective.
Most people have never heard of CUP and find it hard to believe that in this scientific age the cause of the cancer spread can remain unknown. A cancer diagnosis is frightening for patient, family and friends. Not to know where this strange, invasive, disease has originated in the body is a double blow. Jo's Friends is helping to raise awareness and support those touched by CUP, in order to stimulate action and improve treatment for sufferers.
Please help me to raise money for this worthy cause by donating as much or as little as you are able.
