My story

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoTBclI22Dk&feature=fvw

Maria is from Belarus.  Maria now lives and works in London. Maria has a good job.  Maria has many friends...  Many girls from  Belarus, Ukraine, Russia, Moldova and Albania work in London.  Some of them are very “attached” to their jobs... They have no friends, no contact with their families...

More than 4,000 women are being trafficked into the U.K. each year (this figure is believed to be a massive underestimation), mostly girls under 25 and up to 50% are minors. Some are as young as 12 years old.  Most of all trafficking is for sexual exploitation.  The major sources of trafficked persons include Thailand, China, Nigeria, Albania, Bulgaria, Belarus, Moldova, and Ukraine.

The “lucky” few who are rescued do not want to return to their home countries for fear of being found and forced back into prostitution. The victims suffer from enforced drug abuse and multiple health issues and need long period of rehabilitation.

The POPPY Project was set up in 2003 by Eaves charity. It aims to provide accommodation and support to children and women who have been trafficked into the UK and forced to work in prostitution.  Currently it has 54 bed spaces in houses nationally.

With your help, more victims can become part of the project and hope for a normal life after years of abuse and misery!

We are running 10K Human Race by Nike/Grazia this Saturday but this website will stay open for another couple of weeks. This is to ensure that everyone who want to donate can do so!

Thank you in advance for every pound that you donate to this extremely worthy cause!

Maryia & Ursula
