My story
Hi,
For those that know me, i am not a cyclist, i prefer 4 wheels to 2. However, on 12th May 2012, i will put my feet on my pedals at Land's End, Cornwall, and start the 1000mile cycle to John O'Groats, Scotland. It will take me 2 weeks, and about 75miles per day. I'll try and keep people up to date on my progress...Anything you can give will make a difference.
I'm doing it to support a very special charity, Nicki's Smile, and to help raise awareness for pancreatic cancer. Nicki's Smile was set up by one of my closest friends, Dan, in memory of his beautiful wife who passed away at only 33 from a rare form of pancreatic cancer. Nicki was an amazing person, wife, and mother, leaving behind Dan and 3yr old Joshua. She never let her condition alter her zest for life, and her smile lit up any room she walked into. I couldn't think of a better name for change, as 'Nicki's Smile'.
Nicki's Smile works closely with Pancreatic Cancer UK, and aims to raise awareness of pancreatic cancer, and the potential signs and symptoms that could help in early diagnosis and cure. Unfortunately it is still the case that pancreatic cancer is caught too late and so the prognosis is rarely good. With Nicki's Smile championing the cause i am confident that many lives will be saved in the years to come.
Thanks for your support and anything you can give will spur me on to the finish line! Matt
