My story

Mental illness not only affects the sufferer, but also their friends and family. As it isn't considered a physical disease (although can have physical symptoms), it's easy to overlook how life-threatening it can become if those with it don't get the help and support needed to overcome these 'black' periods in their lives.

Having recently gone through a particularly debilitating episode of depression (so severe that I couldn't even leave my bed, let alone go to work) and having failed to get proper support from my local Community Mental Health Team, I realise now just how necessary it is for a charity like Action On Depression to exist.

So what better way to help the charity and to also 'celebrate', in a way, overcoming my lowest point? By doing a sponsored abseil adjacent to the suspension bridge that I had planned to jump from.

This is why I'd really appreciate anything you can spare to donate for this cause. JustGiving is straightforward and secure (pinkie promise!), and they won't sell your info to anyone or bombard you with emails (I'll sort them out if they do). Once you donate, the money is sent directly to the charity and they can make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now. I'm abseiling off a dirty great bridge, for goodness' sake!

My updates 1

Just 1 week to go till I dangle off the bridge like a fanny! Thank you so much to everyone that's donated - your support really means a lot to me. xxx
