Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page.
** Update
Hurrah, I did it, and completed it in 2:00:37. It's irritating that I didn't quite get under 2 hours, but it was rather a warm day so I think that was a big factor in it! I'm pleased to have done it anyway, and there is always next year to beat my target. ;)
Thanks to all that have sponsored me and helped me raise a very respectable sum. This page will still be accepting donations for another year if you haven't yet sponsored me but would like to. :)
** Update
Thanks to all that have sponsored me so far and enabled me to exceed my target. It really means a lot. :) To those who haven't sponsored me yet, there's still time - even after the event! ;)
There's only a few days to go before race day and I'm feeling prepared for it. My new trainers have been broken in, I made a 12m distance just over a week ago, and I got a good time in on a 9m on Sunday which would mean I could break my 2hr target. So, fingers crossed that it all comes together on the day.
Early this year I had the crazy notion that rather than getting annoyed about the half marathon that goes past my house every year which requires me to move my car off the road and have limited travel around Coventry, I should say "if I can't beat 'em, I'll join em".
As you may be aware, I've done several 5km runs for charity before, but making the leap to 21km is rather a different prospect. My training was progressing really well until I lost 4 weeks of being unable to run due to the dreaded swine flu and its after effects, and since then it's been a much steeper training curve. Still, with only 4 weeks to go though, I'm feeling confident that I can achieve my goal.
Although my initial motivation was to run for the personal challenge of it, I'd also like to try and raise money for WWF as I've noticed that conservation & animal charities don't tend to get as much support as "people charities" from these types of events. So I thought I'd try and do my bit for the world in general! WWF's passion is safeguarding the natural world as well as tackling the global threat of climate change.
