Story
Hello All
After years of looking after our three daughters and now with the older two nearly off hand to University and 6th Form College and leaving our youngest in the safe hands of her dad (Gary)! I have volunteered to go to Brazil to help extend a school and raise money for Bowel Cancer here in the UK, this is taking place in late September 2010 for 11 days.
Now those of you that know me well ,will know that I'm not afraid of hard work, early starts, late nights or trying something different..............BUT I DID NOT REALISE IT WILL BE CAMPING!! So please donate to the fund and it may just help ease the pain of what I'm dreading most, NO SLEEP!!!!
With a number of our close family friends having suffered from cancer, I am taking this opportunity to do my bit and hopefully raise in excess of my target.
So this is what I'm going to do in more detail:
I'm taking part in the Bobby Moore Fund's Project Brazil in September 2010 to raise money for the Bobby Moore Fund for Cancer Research UK.
The trip has two objectives - firstly to raise funds to help tackle bowel cancer and secondly to renovate a remote village school in Bandeira. I am aiming to raise a minimum of £4000.
The project will involve an 11 day trip to renovate a remote school and a football pitch and will be developed in partnership with the local population - it will give the children and their parents the chance to continue their education in their own village, close to their families, rather than being obliged to move away.
The projects are based on the success of last year's projects which raised over £100,000 for bowel cancer research and left a lasting legacy for the wonderful local community in Brazil and South Africa.
One in three people in the UK will develop cancer at some point during their lifetime, and sadly, this disease claims the lives of one in four. Every year 16,000 people die from bowel cancer alone, making it the second highest cause of cancer death in the UK, after lung cancer. Around 100 new cases of bowel cancer are diagnosed each day in the UK. But despite its prevalence so few people know or talk about this disease.
The Bobby Moore Fund’s mission is to save lives by raising awareness of bowel cancer and to fund research. Bowel cancer is a largely preventable disease and, if caught early enough, more than nine out of ten people could be successfully treated. I would be extremely grateful if you would be willing to sponsor me and help tackle bowel cancer. It's really easy to donate either by credit or debit card below. For more information about this fantastic charity, please visit www.bobbymoorefund.org Your support will enable the Bobby Moore Fund to improve the survival rate for bowel cancer. Despite increasing incidence, death rates from bowel cancer are falling but there is still so much to do!Best wishes and thank you for taking the time to read my page,
Michelle xxxx
