Story

Before I started training for the Royal Parks half marathon, it had been over four years since I had laced up my trainers.   There always seemed to be some reason or excuse why I couldn't find my running mojo again.  However, this project which is not only so worthwhile and valuable but also very close to my heart has given me the motivation to get running again.

I am running the Royal Parks half marathon in support of Evie's Night Owls and in memory of Evie Bladon, my good friends' daughter.  Evie's Night Owls is a respite care project run by Camp Simcha.

After suffering from oxygen deprivation during her birth in 2012, Evie was born with severe brain damage.  Having initially been given just days to live, Evie was a fighter who went on to celebrate 3 birthdays.  The trauma which Evie suffered during her birth, however, caused multiple serious health issues which resulted in a limited life expectancy and the need for 24 hour care.

When parents have a child with a complex medical condition, it can be difficult, sometimes impossible, to get a good night's sleep, to have any time to rest or to have time to spend together or with other children.  An occasional night's sleep or even a few hours break can make the difference between coping or not.

Evie's Night Owls was established to provide relief to parents of a child with serious or life threatening injuries and your support will provide Evie's Night Owls with additional funding so that they can expand their respite care and help more families.

Many thanks for your support,

Michelle
