Story
I am privileged to have been elected President of the Insurance Institute of Sheffield for 2014 and want to use my office to help raise funds for Weston Park, I am grateful to my foundation sponsor Hawkins and to anyone who sponsors me. On Father's Day I will be setting off from Langsett Barns heading by a circuitous and particularly gruelling hilly route to Edale, the start of the Pennine Way. I am fortunate to have company on the run: my council colleague Owen Wright and my friend from Woodhead Mountain Rescue, Keith Wakeley with me. Families have been drafted in to support us along the way.
I have always enjoyed running and have been remarkably injury free allowing me to stay fit and well. Others are much less fortunate. Some family and friends have had cancer and beaten it, some have succumbed, some are fighting it right now and worryingly I and or others including you perhaps may have to face it some day.For those among you who are familiar with a previous run don't worry, my family will have custody of the car keys throughout and I don't expect to need rescuing this time around.
I hope that you will join me in supporting this effort.
Thanks and warmest regards
Mike
