Story
Thanks for visiting my JustGiving page. Whilst sitting at home last year with a stinking summer cold, I watched the London/Surrey 100 ride go past my house and thought that this would be a good way to raise cash for a worthy cause and at the same time, accept the challenge of pedalling my ageing carcass around a circuit of 100 miles on the road! So - I decided to accept the challenge. It has been made an even greater challenge in terms of getting fit enough for the event, by my having a serious offroad accident last September when I flew off my mountain bike and fractured three of my spinal vertebrae. Now (in March 2014) I am beginning to turn the final corner to full recovery. Part of this experience involved being bed-bound in hospital for over two weeks and virtually the same at home for the rest of a two-month period. This gave me some small insight into what it must feel like to be in this position, knowing that the rest of one's life would be spent this way with the end in sight, needing all the support one can get to make the experience at least to some extent, bearable. For this reason I have picked the Macmillan Cancer Support charity to raise money for, and I hope you can manage to give whatever you can to help me achieve this objective. Thankyou.
