I am sure that most of you will have heard of 'Help For Heroes', but are maybe unsure of the great work that they do. Every week we hear of people in our armed forces who are killed whilst serving their country and sadly see them returned home in high profile news bulletins.
What we don't see or hear so often are the much larger number of our brave men and women who return home with horrific injuries. They need our help and support too, as do many of their families who are left behind, often with young children. Without the help and support provided by H4H many would not be able to live anywhere near a normal life.. Whether you support the 'wars' in Iraq or Afghanistan is irrelevant, these people are sent there to do their job and deserve to be treated with respect and honour.
I plan to do my bit my cycling the 350 miles in the Help For Heroes 'Big Battlefield Bike Ride 2010' from Portsmouth to Dunkirk in May 2010. That's an average of some 70 miles per day and something I have never attempted in my life before. My goal is to raise £3,000 and I cannot do it alone!
