St Elizabeth Hospice improves life for people with a progressive illness. Our work centres around individual needs, with specialist support, wherever required, at home, in the community or at the hospice. Each year the hospice needs to generate £12.9m, of this 70% comes from the local community.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I am running the London Marathon this year, and raising money for St Elizabeth Hospice in Ipswich.  This is a charity based hospice that provides care and support to patients with a terminal illness.  The individuals who attend are given advice, support networks, access to specialists, and residential care when it is required, and if the patient wishes, that is where they can go in the final stages of their lives.  They also support patients in their own homes.  Their aim is to provide a service to meet all of their patient's physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs whilst giving support to their family, friends and carers.

I have chosen this charity, as my Mother is currently a patient there.  She has terminal cancer.  On a weekly basis, she attends and meets with other patients with similar problems.  Nurses and doctors are there, and provide support as and when required.  She receives lunch, and is able to join in group activities if she so chooses (physiotherapy, occupational therapy, complementary medicine, as well as day care services, outpatients and a family support team).  This runs with the support of and in conjunction with Ipswich Hospital.  This is totally free to the patients and their families.

It costs £11 per minute to run this facility.  It cannot run without the support of the community it provides for.  This charity provides a service which most people will have no understanding of, until that service is required by either themselves or a relative.  They provide an excellent service and I ask that you support them, so that they can support us.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. If you choose to donate, please remember to click the Gift aid box.  This will allow the charity to reclaim the tax that you have already paid on this money.  If you do not tick this box, the tax stays with the government.  Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
