Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I have been lucky enough to get a ballot place to run the 2013 London Marathon.  I'm not a "pro" runner by any stretch of the imagination - quite the opposite.  18 months ago, the most exercise I did was climbing the stairs and mowing the lawn!  I'm just your average husband and dad to two lovely kids with a job and a mortgage... for some reason I thought it would be a good idea to try and run the London Marathon!

Family and friends said they'd like to sponsor me on my Marathon adventure so I started to look into what I felt was a worthy cause.  I came across the male cancer charity Orchid and realised how little I knew about the work they do and male cancers in general. I very much suspect the same is true for most people - apart from Movember, male cancers seem to receive very little publicity and dedicated research (relatively speaking of course!).

Nearly 40,000 dads, sons, brothers, grandfathers and uncles are diagnosed with prostate, penile and testicular cancers each year. Orchid exists to save men's lives from these cancers through a range of support services, pioneering research and promoting awareness.

Be male cancer aware!!

It doesn't matter if you know me personally, or even care if I make it around the Marathon in one piece, your donation goes directly to Orchid.
