Myself Colin Johnson and two others buddies are planning to climb Kilimanjaro in Tanzania in February 2010.  God knows why, I think I must be having a mid life type crisis!!  How an overweight, out of shape office bound lump like me is going to make it I don't know.  But hey, if Chris Moyles can do it, why can't I !!

Check out my activity log below......

For the record, we are paying all travel costs, all event costs, in fact absolutely all costs ourselves so any donations you do decide to make will go 100% (less the 5% that Justgiving take to the NSPCC).

Please be generous and thanks for taking the time to log on.  I have chosen the NSPCC because I believe they do awesome work for kids who just don't get a fair chance, remember most of the time they can't really speak up for themselves.

Activity update:

1st November - Joined Gym, well it's a start!!!!!

6th November - went to Cotswold outdoor shop.  Spend £600 on gear!!  Mrs P not happy already.

22nd November - walked 10 miles on the flat, very knackered.  Not sure this is a good idea!!

27th November - not been a great week.  5 lunches, 2 dinners and only two gym sessions.  Think the weight is going up, not down!!  Must do better...

4th December - weeks taking bit of pattern at the moment.  Large lunch every day, number of dinners out, "silly season" going well! Same cannot be said for the training!

11th - As above....

13th - Good start to the sunday, out early, walk 10ish miles around local reservoir.  Last half in rain, very wet, very cold.  Good practise me thinks....  huge roast dinner and bottle of Rioja not so good!!

18th December - let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!  Great Kili training, get those boots wet and snowy!!!

29th December - had Kili book for Christmas, read it and now very worried...  I am clearly too fat and too unfit for this! The big training regime starts 1st Jan, cant come too soon...

1st January 2010 - Happy New Year....

2nd Jan - realisation that I am to be "on the wagon" for 6 weeks now setting in.

10th Jan - 10 miles walk in snow good stuff!  No boozefor 10 whole days, shakes almost stopped!!

11th Jan - In gym and legs hurting.

12th Jan - Ooooh God - what I would do for a large glass of Rioja now!!

30/31st - weekend walking the North downs way.  Those hills dont half make walking a bit tougher!  Think what a real hill will be like, ouch.  Still we wandered for 25 miles and legs hurt so I guess thats good.  Only two weekends to go before the off...
