Story
The Complementary Therapies Service (W103) in the Mowbray Suite at the Friarage Hospital, Northallerton provides an invaluable service to both cancer patients and their carers.
In the last year I have had several friends, colleagues and acquaintances that have sadly had to use this service.
Complementary Therapies are widely used alongside orthodox treatments for patients with cancer, they are believed to enhance general well-being and provide emotional support as well as specific treatments to address symptom management during surgery, chemotherapy, radiotherapy and hormone therapy.
The treatments are offered free of charge to patients and carers and the unit is funded solely through charitable donations and lots of hard work on the part of Kathryn Almond and her team of volunteers.
This is a very worthwhile cause and I hope that we can reach my target figure.
I will be accompanied by Team GB & Team Raleigh on this pre Tour de France ride. The route will cover 70 miles riding from Catterick Garrison out towards Masham and taking up the Tour route up to Middleham, Leyburn, Asgarth, Hawes, over to Buttertubs, Reeth, Grinton, Redmire and finishing at Catterick Garrison.
