My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Millie's Mission is a year long quest consisting of many physical challenges including The Edinburgh Rock and Roll half marathon, Baker Hughes 10K, Balmoral 10K and The Coast to Coast Challenge which will be completed by Kate, myself and many of our family members, friends and colleagues!  Other more gruelling events are being completed by some of our friends/colleagues who are clearly much fitter than us!

The reason for this madness is to raise awareness (and lots of money!) following the diagnosis of our daughter Millie, in September 2011, with a rare condition known as West Syndrome.  West Syndrome is a very rare and developmentally damaging epileptic disorder in infants, the ultimate outcome of which can range from no lasting long term effects to severe developmental delay/learning difficulties and in some occassions can be fatal.  Since being diagnosed, Millie has been receiving excellent care at RACH, she recieved aggressive treatment from the outset and we managed to gain siezure control within 26 hours of starting treatment.  To date we are still unsure what the future holds for our little munchkin, but she has made fantastic progress so far and we hope that she will be largely if not totally unaffected by this horrible condition and manages to live a full and healthy life.

We are raising money for The Archie Foundation which is the official charity of child health in the North of Scotland. Supporting the Royal Aberdeen Children's Hospital, the Childrens' Wards in Inverness and Elgin and also children's projects in the Islands. Every penny makes a real difference to local children when they are sick.

All the funds raised are being administered through the Grampian Police Diced Cap Charitable Fund who are supporting us in our quest to raise as much money as possible for this great cause (they won't be recieving any of the money raised).

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
