<div class="text">   The Minstead Star Challenge 2011 As funding cuts affects more and more of us the students are being affected too. A change in the benefit system now means that students who are in receipt of incapacity benefit are now required to pay for college courses. At the Minstead Training Project we are supported by Brockenhurst College who help us to provide on site courses in Drama and citizenship but unfortunately our students are now required to pay for these courses if they choose to access them. The drama course is a fantastic way for the students to learn about being more assertive, confident and helps build and maintain their sense of fulfilment and self esteem. The Citizenship course allows the students to find out about local and national news and offers ways of discovering the community and the wider world. Being a resilient group of individuals the students have decided that they won’t be defeated and have geared themselves up for a challenge to help raise money to fund these college courses. The event is taking place on the 21st September whereupon the students will either be walking a 5 mile walk or taking part in the 50 length swim of our very own swimming pool. Whichever part of the event the students choose to take part in they are hoping to raise as much money as possible so will you be able to help them?
