On October 4th I will be taking part in the New Balance English Half Marathon to raise money for The Relationships Centre.
I am not really ready for the challenge but I will do my best and will stagger to the end if I have to! If I don't finish under thre hours the organisers send out a bus of shame to take people to the end. Can you imagine the humiliation!
The charity is the Warrington Guardian's chairty of the year and believes that everybody deserves the right to mutually, respectful and healthy relationships. The Relationships Centre aims to raise awareness and support anyone to develop the healthiest relationship they can.
The people it supports include: young people who are leaving care, victims of abuse, perpertators of domestic abuse and young people who run away from home.
Staff at the centre train inform organisations such as the police and the NHS about certain issues and how to spot victims/perpetrators.
The charity is a really good cause and is hoping to expand its services by setting up a community facility called the Life Skills Academy.
The Life skills Academy will offer a safe place providing help and support to deal with the reasons why they ran away. Staff will work closely with the family to resolve the issues and continue with the support until the help is no longer needed.
Young people will be taught the basic life skills they missed out on to help them through life. For example care leavers can learn to cook etc.
Anyway I have talked for long enough. Thanks for your help. xxx
