We are doing the Three peaks challenge to raise money for ‘Motorbikes for Midwives’.  The three peaks are: Mount Snowdon 1,085 m (3,560 ft), Scafell Pike 978 m (3,209 ft), and Ben Nevis 1,344 m (4,409 ft).  We aim to climb all three in 48 hours!

About Motorbikes for Midwives:

Liberia is a country with a long history of civil war.  Most health centres were destroyed and many doctors and midwives left the country and have not returned. Ruth and her team at the LifeLine clinic do a fantastic job, giving maternity care, immunisations and first line treatment for common diseases.

Liberia has one of the worst rates of maternal mortality in the world. Women in Liberia have a 1 in 12 lifetime risk of dying in childbirth, and 1 in 9 Liberian children die before reaching their 9th birthday.

A motorbike will allow the team to sell drugs to pharmacies in the rural areas, raising money to expand and improve the clinic. Also Ruth will also be able to train more birth attendants so that more women can have a skilled person with them for their birth, giving families in Liberia a better chance.
