Child-Safe provides practical advice, and promotes the safety, welfare and pastoral care of children and young people, involved in sport, community groups and travel. It is committed to improving care, reducing opportunities of abuse and helping parents, volunteers and schools to provide an environment, which is safe and fun.

Thank you for visiting my page - I have decided so set myself a bigger than ever challenge of cycling approx 300 miles from the centre of London to Paris in 3 days and then the following day complete the Paris marathon (27 miles) in under 3 hours 30 mins. Training has commenced and will continue right up until we set off from London on Thursday 12th April 2012.

I am a trustee for Child-Safe and have supported them since 2002 when I was 15 and we cycled from Bristol to Lands End over a weekend. Since then I have helped to raise over £50,000 for the charity. They are a unique charity on a global scale and the work they do to prevent child abuse in the travel sector quite often goes unnoticed. I can however assure you it is an ever present problem across the world and the work that Chris Gould and the charity do is only the crucial. I therefore ask you to dig very deep and appreciate that I am going to endure a serious amount of pain over four days.

What is Child-Safe?

Child-Safe is the only charity specialising solely in the safeguarding and prevention of abuse of children and young people engaged in activities within the Youth Travel Sector.

How is Child-Safe different?

There are many charities dedicated to children’s welfare and safety, most of these are concerned with dealing with the after effects of abuse.

· Our aim is ‘to safeguard and prevent the abuse of children and young people away from home’.

What do we do?

Based at Avon and Somerset Constabulary HQ, a small team of charity staff and volunteers provide consultancy, training, advice, guidance and support to a range of organisations and individuals within the Youth Travel sector.

We rely upon sponsorship, donations and fund raising events to support our efforts to sustain the charity and to make this a safer world for children.
