My story
All donations will be match funded by our patron, H&M CEO, Karl-Johan Persson.
"MyBnk opens your eyes to what you are doing wrong with money. I'd be lost if I'd missed this" Adrian.
Young people are not being taught the money skills needed in life, leaving them financially excluded and in debt. Half of 17 year olds are or have been in debt, and over a quarter of the UK population have no savings at all.
MyBnk are tackling this problem at a grassroots level, bringing financial education to life and delivering high-energy learning programmes to young people on topics such as saving and budgeting, university finance, and survival money management.
With your support we can reach 20,000 young people across England in the next year:
· £40, doubled to £80, will support one young person through our accredited Money Works programme.
Money Works transforms the lives of financially vulnerable young people including care leavers and teenage parents by equipping them with survival money management skills. They learn to prioritise debt and create financial action plans to take control of their lives and help them transition into independent living.
· £400, doubled to £800, will arm a group of 30 young people with core real life money skills through our award-winning Money Twist programme.
Money Twist teaches young people that money doesn’t grow on trees! They explore the origins of money, how it flows and why government taxes them. Through hands-on activities and real-life case studies they learn core money management skills like budgeting and balancing their needs versus wants. From an early age, they develop a responsible and informed attitude towards money and feel empowered to stay in control of their personal finances.
