Trek up Mount Toubkal in Morocco - 16th September to 20th September 2009
I have done this trek for The Child Bereavement Trust because they are a wonderful charity that have helped me significantly in the last 2 1/2 half years since we lost our beautiful boy Benedict. I would not be in the place I am today without the charity.
It is impossible to over estimate the devastation of loosing ones child at any age be that as a baby or an adult or any age in between it is a life sentence and the relevant support from people who truly understand is crucial. When you loose a child you have to learn to live again, to breath. Returning to 'normal' life is a challenge, the new normal is a blighted one and one alot of the time you do not want to be part of. Without the support of a specific charity aimed at those people who have lost a child many of us would, I am sure, fall by the wayside. I am mending (of sorts) slowly but the 'seams' rip apart sometimes and most of the time I feel like I am walking through treacle.
This trek will hopefully achieve two things, raise money for a very relevant charity and give me a goal & a challenge for the next couple of months.
The Child Bereavement Charity helps both bereaved parents/siblings/etc and professionals that work with or come into contact with bereaved parents and children.
