Story
Having already conquered Macha Picchu, Mt Kilimanjaro, the Great Wall of China and a Charity Bike ride through India's Rajasthan, Denise Van Outen has decided to take on a new charity challenge with Pals: Zoe Hardman, Lydia Bright, Matt Johnson and Kirsty Williams - the team of 5 will be taking on a challenging 600KM bike ride through Vietnam and Cambodia.
The team will begin their journey in Vietnam's Ho Chi Minh City and will cycle through mixed terrain, visiting local charities and cycling up to 100km a day in the 30+oC heat, before ending in Cambodia's Siem Reap eight days later.
The team have decided to raise money for two charities this year. The first Charity - Mind (www.mind.org.uk) who provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem, they campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding to issues such as depression and suicide. The second charity is the Vipingo Village Fund (www.vipingovillagefund.org) - the Charity is especially close to Zoe's heart as her parents founded the cause in 2006 on the Mombassa Coast in Kenya. The charity is driven by the abject poverty that surrounds them on all sides and being firm believers that the only way a nation can progress is through education, the VVF have directed their considerable energies into creating the Monterssori School in the centre of Vipingo Village which is the educational home to over 125 students who are either infected or affected by AIDs, and in addition to the school the charity also has two other arms: Community Projects & Conservation.
PLEASE DIG DEEP - All donations gratefully received.
All our love, Denise, Zoe, Matt, Lydia and Kirsty xxx
