Hello everyone, for those of you who aren't friends and family, here is a little insight to why we have chosen this charity to celerbrate my 30th birthday.

My husband and I have been married for 9 years and have always wanted childern to be part of it. Unfortunately, after many years of trying and one very traumatic treatment of fullblown IVF we have not been very sucessful.

However, 3 years ago, we decided to become foster carers and we're very blessed to be able to provide restbite care for a lovely young boy for the last two years. After experiencing such a positive placement and becoming more confident as a couple and as foster parents we decided on the 5th of January 2009 to apply to become adopters.  We are still at the very beginng of this very lengthy process.

This is where you come in .....

BAAF has existed for over 25 years. Theyare the British Association for Adoption and Fostering. They provide lots of publications, they provide lots of training, they provide lots of information and advice about adoption and fostering, they lobby the government for beneficial changes for children in the care system, and they get involved with changing the law with issuing guidance for setting standards. They also do lots of press and publicity work.

The Be My Parent service is for families interested in adoption and fostering - whether approved, in the process of being assessed, or making initial enquiries about the process - as well as social workers and agencies who place children for adoption and permanent fostering. It includes a family-finding newspaper and website, as well as general information and advice.

In the year 2007–08, Be My Parent helped 133 children find new adoptive or permanent foster families. One hundred and twenty-one children were placed with 78 adoptive families and 12 children were placed with 8 permanent foster families.
