Dear family, friends, colleagues and other lovely randoms,

Believe it or not, I'm going to be dragging my ass round the London Marathon on April 25th 2010 - yikes!!

I've had my eye on doing something like this for about 7 years and now and as the reality has set in, I'm half excited / half cacking myself about setting myself a challenge of this size - firstly because I'm a rubbish runner (see pic) and secondly my penchant for a vino or ten could make my training a tiny bit harder!

But the real No.1 reason for signing up to the Marathon is because the money i raise will be going to The Samaritans, an amazing charity who work tirelessly to provide emotional support 24/7 to those experiencing despair, distress or suicidal feelings. The Samaritans are an organisation who are very close to mine and all the SBU massive's hearts due to the tragic loss of our dear friend Glen Paveley in 2006. Glen pretty much featured in all of our best university memories, and is still greatly missed. so this is in Smiley's memory xx
