My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit Neale and Adam's JustGiving page.

Adam (aged 15) and Neale Moss have now cycled from Land’s End to John O’Groats.  They completed the journey at John O'Groats at 4pm on Thursday 11th August having set out from Land's End at 8.30am on Saturday 30th July.  So, they completed just under 900 miles in 13 days.

Their journey took them through Bodmin and onto Newton Abbot.  Then it was via Bridgewater to Bristol, and up the Wye to Tintern Abbey.  The Welsh Marches saw them travel through Ludlow, Church Stretton and on up to Frodsham.  From Frodsham they headed north through Warrington and Preston, eventually finding a more tranquil area near Kendal (Levens) and the half-way point.  The next day they reached Scotland via the infamous Shap Pass.  It was a freezing cold wet day, which found them eventually reaching Gretna Green before going through Moffat to Glasgow in more torrential rain.  This was the longest day - 92 miles clocked up. After the Erskine Bridge in Glasgow they set off for Inverness via Rannoch Moor hitting very unkind northerly winds for the rest of the journey.  Having descended from Rannoch via the spooky Glencoe they made their way up the beautiful Great Glen, managing to avoid the Loch Ness monster.  After Inverness it was the A9 through Helmsdale (more rain) and eventually onto Wick and John O'Groats.

We suffered 2 punctures, one pedal came off, and a few scratches and bruises when Adam fell off on a cycle path (thankfully) in Weston Super Mare.

We had fantastic support from The Chain Gang throughout.  Special mention to The Rickards, The Johnsons, The Stangrooms, The Crosbys, The Evans's, The Rusbys, The Howards, The Barnards, The McLeod's, The Grahams, The Mountain Rescue Team from Leuchars, and The Black Watch. All of the aforementioned made the journey far less painful than it might have been and kept our morale up with fine food, comfy beds, and excellent guiding.  Also, Adam and I want to thank Caron for doing the nightly 'blogs' so that selected folk could follow our progress.

Well done! I did it myself in 1989 and I remember how tough it was. Cornwall hills are killers but don't give up at the Spittal of Glenshee!
