***NEWS FLASH*** I completed the London Triathlon (see photos for proof!!!!), next stop a Leicester to Skegness Bike Ride (approx 90 miles) on Sunday 30th August!!! A big thank you to those who have sponsored me so far, and for those that haven't you've got until 31st December!!!
Thanks for visiting my JustGiving fundraising page. I’m aiming to complete this years London Triathlon in order to raise money for the Hearts to Africa Charity.
The charity was started by a guy holidaying in The Gambia, who decided to leave his suitcase full of clothes to people he’d met who had so little. This has now progressed to sending a full container of donated items and organising a team of volunteers to personally distribute them. Some of you may (and some of you may not know!!) that for the last 3 years I’ve been volunteering some of my spare time collecting second hand clothes, bikes, computers and educational materials.
I first travelled with the group in 2007 to assist in the distribution of these items and to see at first hand how much they’re appreciated by the schools, hospital, villages and individuals.
The great thing about this charity is there are no paid staff and all volunteers pay for their own travel/accommodation to ensure that all donated items are delivered to those who need them most.
I’m planning to travel again this year but as the credit crunch has reduced the financial sponsorship received from local businesses I want to make sure there are sufficient funds in place so that the container makes it from the to the people who need it most in .
I’m therefore attempting to get my 42 year old body to swim (in the , surely worth something?!!), cycle and run around the course. You are, in effect, paying to see me suffer (I know this alone will make some of you willing to cough up!!!).
Donating with JustGiving is fast and totally secure. It’s the most efficient way to sponsor me, Hearts to Africa get the money faster, and if you’re a taxpayer JustGiving makes sure 25% Gift Aid plus a 3% supplement are added to your donation.
So please dig deep and sponsor me now.
Many Thanks
Neil
