My story

Asthma can be frightening for anyone. At its worst, it stopped me being able to walk. I remember having to stop one day between my flat and the tube, unable to go on and unable to get home, fighting to get control over my breathing. When you can't breathe, you start to panic and that makes it even worse.

For many people asthma is much more dangerous. Some asthma is so severe there are no drugs to treat it and people spend weeks of every year in hospital. Some people get sudden, violent asthma attacks that put their lives at risk and take weeks to recover from. Asthma is disabling and deadly for too many: it still kills three people every day.

More lives can be saved through medical research, patient education and targeted services.  That's what Asthma UK exists to do.

I am not especially fit and the idea of walking 100 km from London to Brighton is daunting. But asthma should never hold you back and the event is a great way to spread awareness and raise vital funds. Please support me and people with asthma and in the process give me the encouragement to make it all the way to the Pier!

Thank you
