The Dudley Group NHS Charity makes a real difference to those being treated in our hospitals or in their own homes. We are not about providing healthcare; charitable donations enable us to give extra comfort, equipment and facilities above and beyond those which are supplied by the NHS.

I am raising money for Premature baby care in the Neo-natal Unit at Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley.

In August 2007, my niece Kiera arrived in the world 14 weeks early, weighing only 1lb 13oz (822grammes). The first thing she had to do was to fight for her life. Her mother, my sister, was also in a fight for her own life. The care that the Doctors and Nurses at the Neo-natal Unit provided was essential to help them win these battles. I can never thank them enough - raising some money to help them in their work is my small way of saying thank you.

I went to Kiera's 4th Birthday party at the weekend - she is a happy, healthy little girl. She loves dancing and dressing up like a little princess. She starts school in September, a milestone that seemed a long way off 4 years ago. Have a look at the pictures to see how far she has come.

I would like you to sponsor me as I endeavour to cycle Coast to Coast along the Reivers Route. This is 170 miles over three days, starting near Newcastle and finishing in Whitehaven, Cumbria. To make it harder, we are going via Scotland. Why not!

This will not be easy, I had two knee operations last year, and could barely cycle 5 miles in January 2011. If you only want to sponsor me to enjoy my suffering, please do so!

I start the ride on Thursday 1st September and aim to finish on Saturday 3rd September. Feel free to donate a very comfortable cushion!

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.
