My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Hi,
Having had long standing complex urological issues, I was lucky enough to have been referred to UCLH, where I have experienced excellent treatment and outstanding support.
It wasn't until I was treated by Jeremey Ockrim and his team at the University College London Hospital (UCLH ) that my life changed and great progress was made in dealing with the conditions I have long suffered with.
As a way of saying thank you to the team I have undertaken many challenges in the past few years with an aim of raising money to support key R&D projects into various urological conditions.

So far I have raised over £20k by completing these challenges:

2010
Bath Half Marathon
New York Marathon
24hour Three Peaks Challenge

2011

Silverstone Half Marathon
Paris Marathon
Edinburgh Marathon
To Solo Canoe from Bath to Westminster
Mount Kilimanjaro Summit
Great North Run
London Royal Parks Half Marathon

Amongst other events my greatest challenge this year 2012, is running the Paris Marathon then running from Paris to London within 7 days to compete in the London Marathon.

My goal is to raise £30k each year to enable the R&D projects to continue, which are so desperate needed to understand and treat urological conditions going forward.
That I am able to even contemplate taking on such a challenging schedule of events which I know would not be possible without the skill and expertise of all at this specialist unit. The raising funds help enable this unit to continue with their research and to be at the forefront of their field with helping people like me and providing such initiative treatment and support for all.
Please support me in raising funds for such a great cause

UCLH Charity

Charity Registration No. 229771

UCLH Charity provides support for patients, staff and medical research at UCL Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. The hospitals treat not only local residents, commuters and visitors to the area but also provide highly specialised services for patients referred from all over the UK and from abroad. The Trust has a reputation for innovation and providing patient focussed care, with ambitions to be a world class centre for clinical services, teaching and research. In the past the Charity has provided state of the art medical equipment for UCL Hospitals, invested in health initiatives for staff and funded academic medical research projects in conjunction with University College London. Current projects included a £3m joint venture with UCL Hospitals to develop a pioneering education centre, and the investment of £7m, from past legacies, in biomedical research. We are also developing a UCLH homeless healthcare service, responding to an ‘invisible’ patient group who often lack representation. Your gift is vital, to help us support this essential work into the future.
