Huw Thatcher died at the age of 15 on March 13th 2011, playing football. Huw had a brain haemorrhage as a result of a pre existing condition that no one knew about, or could have known about.
Some people with the same condition as Huw survive after surgery, but sometimes with devastating effects on their lives in the form of disabilities. Therefore Huw's family want to support the Disabilities Trust charity - in particular the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust part of this charity. Your donation via this Just Giving page will be forwarded to the Huw Thatcher Trust account within the Brain Injury Rehabilitation Trust. Money is being raised through a wide range of charity events. The Huw Thatcher Trust web site is now available at huwthatchertrust.org to promote these events, show how the money is being spent; and celebrate Huw's life.
This page shows the total money raised so far for the Huw Thatcher Trust including funds raised through other routes (off line donations), as well as the total raised on line at this page.
A further reason for supporting the above charity is that it is supported by the Yorath family. Daniel Yorath (son of former Welsh international footballer Terry) also died aged 15 (in 1992) when he was playing football.
As money is raised, Huw's family along with the Huw Thatcher Trust Team, will decide which projects in the above charity to support. Whatever the money is spent on, it will improve the lives of people who are disabled as a result of brain injury.
The Huw Thatcher Trust will be a fitting legacy to Huw. Just like Huw it will be lively, energetic, fun, hard working, sympathetic, productive and greatly admired. Thank you for making a donation, you are making a real difference to people's lives and helping us remember Huw in a positive way.
We know that people donate to other charities and they may contribute again in the future to the Huw Thatcher Trust by taking part in an event - so while people will want to give generously, donations of any size and at any time are ALL greatly appreciated.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and secure. They’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate.
