British Ex-Services Wheelchair Sports Association (BEWSA)
Dive Club Millennium Dive - Underwater & swimming marathon & wheelchair push marathon
WE DID IT!!
BEWSA and friends turned out inforce on the 28th August 2010 to achieve a big challenge.
In the water we wanted to complete an underwater & surface swim for 42 km. On the road we wanted to complete a full marathon of 26 miles.
Well, we did all that and more!!
Mike Martin completed a full road marathon in his wheelchair in just over 4 hours!
The swimmers which was a mixed team of boys & girls completed 37 km!
The divers managed to complete 18 km underwater which when added to the swimmers outstanding achievement totals 55 km!
Thank you if you have already donated, if you have not been able to then there is still time.
Finally, and as important as giving money to the charity (and I do believe that charity starts a home, and home is what our service men & women protect) tell people that BEWSA is there to offer 'rehabilitation through sport' and our injured servicemen & women are welcome to join our charity.
Millennium Dive Club is part of BEWSA and allows ex-sevicemen & women to experience the wonders and freedom of scuba diving. Formed back in 1999 the branch set out to teach 'veterans' of the armed forces who had there military careers terminated through disability.
