Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. This time last year, I had never heard of myeloma and the majority of you reading this will not be aware of this illness. So what is myeloma? It's also known as multiple myeloma and is a cancer arising from plasma cells, a type of white blood cell which is made in the bone marrow. Bone marrow is the 'spongy' material found in the centre of the larger bones in the body. Treatment for myeloma is aimed at control as there is currently no cure.
I have decided to take on the Edinburgh Marathon on 29th May 2016 to raise awareness and much needed funds for Myeloma Uk. Every single penny raised will go towards:
- Supporting patients and their families
- Funding genetics research to develop and discover new 'tailored' treatments
- Funding ground-breaking Myeloma UK Clinical Trial Network
- Tailoring information for doctors, nurses and other clinicians to ensure patients receive the best treatment and care.
Having seen this treatment first-hand, I can't stress enough how important every single penny you donate is.
