Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Somewhat foolishly I've entered the longest mountain bike race in the UK: The ultra-endurance Montane Kielder 100. I do my fair share of riding but this race is really hard and as you can imagine there are a lot of very good reasons not to do it:
1. 100 miles off-road is a VERY long way (at least 10 hours of riding - equivalent to 200+ road miles)
2. It will probably rain - I seem to attract it (so make that 10+ hours riding through mud)
3. It will hurt a LOT
4. There may be nothing left of me by the time the midges have finished
But more to the point there's even better reasons to do it... or so I keep telling myself:
1. It gets me out of doing DIY! Woohoo!
2. More importantly - and here's where you come in - I can hopefully raise lots of cash for the Great North Air Ambulance - see their website for lots of reasons why they deserve your hard-earned cash: http://www.greatnorthairambulance.co.uk/
3. Last but not least - and it's only fair to point out that there's an element of selfishness to this - when the last of my nine biking-lives are used up and I break myself on the side of a mountain; the Air Ambulance will hopefully have enough petrol money to make the trip. Wouldn't it be ironic if they had to rescue me from the actual race...
