My story

Hello there.. and thank you for visiting my Just Giving page. I promise to keep this brief..

In a moment of madness a few months ago I agreed to participate in this year's Death March in Bornem, Belgium on 13th August 2010. This will involve walking 100km (64 miles) in under 24 hours. Yes that's right, just 24 hours! It's like taking a not so leisurely stroll from Southampton to the London Eye. The fun and frolics start at 9pm on the Friday (13th eek!), walking through the night and the day to hopefully complete before 9pm Saturday evening.

I will be raising money for Pets As Therapy charity which some of you might already know Charlie and I are volunteers for. We visit the mental health unit at Winchester Hospital every Monday afternoon and it is incredible to see the positive effect Charlie has on the people there.. they love to see him and feed him biscuits. No complaints from him either ;) I think mostly it gives them a sense of normality during tough times and a welcome reminder of pets they own or have owned in the past. The charity is a small voluntary organisation and totally dependent on donations - please refer to their website for more information: http://www.petsastherapy.org/

If you are interested in learning more about this bonkers Death March event, visit http://www.dodentocht.be/en for the official site and also to track my progress around the course over the 24 hour period.

Basically I admit, I need as much encouragement to do this as possible. If you are able to spare a few pennies, or even quite a few!, I would be truly grateful. I'll even come show you the blisters afterwards if you like?!

OK here comes the science bit.. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU xox
