Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
The hair has finally gone, and the money is yet to be finalised as it is still coming in. To see the end result then click on 'photos (5)' to the left to open a window that will allow you to cycle through the pictures. P.S. this page can still accept money until the end of Jan-10 and thank you to everyone who has contributed to date in order to raise a great sum of money for Beechwood :-)
The time has finally come to move on from my student hair cut – yes after 16 years the pony tail is going (I can hear the collective cheer!!). Obviously this also means that I am now tapping you up for cash, as I have always promised that when the time came it would be for charity.
First of all, the charity. I think they say it best themselves, so I have taken this from their website:
Beechwood - a haven of tranquillity where patients, their carers and their families are empowered to live positively with cancer was opened in 1990, is a North West day centre offering psychological support following a cancer diagnosis or treatment. Individually structured programmes are available for patients, their carers and families and include:
- Vital one to one talks Complementary therapies Expressive group topics Relaxation and visualisation sessions Advice and education
Patients can be referred to Beechwood by ant medical professional assisting them - such as their GP, MacMillan Nurse to name but two. Self-referrals are also accepted
Your money will go towards our annual charity requirement of over £400,000
"The smile on a face is the best advertisement for Beechwood, who make life worth living"
"Laugh and we'll laugh with you, cry and we'll be here for you"

When will this be done? My intention is to auction the ‘cut’ at Acdo’s business partners Christmas party on Thursday 17 December 2009.
Why Beechwood? I think we all know people who have been affected by cancer and so are aware of the impact on the person and those around them. A lot of money is rightly raised for charities who help to research and fight cancer, their focus on the future, however I feel those who help the people affected in the here and now are often not as well promoted.
What’s the target? Well, 16 years is a long time and if it is to go then it needs to be for a good sum of money and the more I raise the shorter my hair will go. I think fair targets to help you all have a bit of fun at my expense are:
> £1,000 – a good effort that will be rewarded with the whole lot going.
So dig deep – you have, after all, been waiting for this moment!!
