My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

On the 8th of August 2009 a team of intrepid explorers from Athleltic Football Club Royal Oak are embarking on the Three Peaks Mountain Challenge which comprises of climbing up and down the three highest peaks in Great Britain all within 24 hours.

We are doing this to raise money for our team and also to raise funds for The Alfie Apeal.

The Alfie Appeal is a non-profit organisation intially set up to raise funds for one little boy  (Alfie Clay ) that was diagnosed terminally ill. When Alfie was 18 months old his parents noticed that he was having trouble walking. After taking Alfie to the hospital for tests he was diagnosed with a form of Leukodystrophy called Krabbe. After this Alfie became very sick, very quickly. Leukodystrophy refers to progressive degeneration of the white matter of the brain due to imperfect growth or development of the myelin sheath, the fatty covering that acts as an insulator around nerve fiber. The aim of The Alfie Appeal is now to raise awareness of Leukodystophies and to support those that it effects by raising funds for The Myelin project.

For more information on the Myelin Project please visit http://www.myelinproject.co.uk/. For more on The Alfie Appeal go to http://www.alfieappeal.btik.com .

The A.F.C Royal Oak Three Peaks Challenge team is made up of...

Jamie Haworth- Assistant Manager

James Marriott - Returning Hero

Please help us raise funds for our club and also for The Alfie Appeal. 75% of everything raised will go to The Alfie Appeal with the remainder going to A.F.C Royal Oak. Thank you.
