Penile cancer is very rare. Approximately only 500 men are diagnosed with it in the UK each year. It is most often diagnosed in men between the ages of 50 and 70. As a man, it is probably the worst kind of cancer you can be diagnosed with. Due to the rarety of the cancer, it is diffuicult to cure, but Dad has been fighting this now for over a year. Any lesser man would of given up by now i am sure. His fight and determination has been a credit, not just to him, but for all of us. I can honestly say hand on heart how proud i am of him and i will endevour to help, support and make people aware of this horrible illness as much as i can.
So... Why not start easy? Just the matter of a little 310 miles!
Ive managed to gather a small team of willing cyclist to partake in this little journey! Predominantly i'll be raising money for the Sue Ryder Hospice in Leckhampton, Cheltenham.
Sue Ryder, Leckhampton Court provide specialist palliative care for the people of Gloucestershire with potentially life-threatening illnesses.
We strive to meet the overall needs of the patient; their family and carers, with the support and expertise of our multidisciplinary specialist palliative care team. We help patients for different reasons. A patient may have unresolved symptoms. Or a patient has physical, psychological, social or spiritual issues that can't be managed satisfactorily in other settings. They then come to us for a specialist intervention from our multidiciplinary team. We also care for those with complex palliative care needs which require reassessment and rehabilitation. And we're also here to meet the complex needs of a patient requiring end of life care.
We will be raising money for other charities that mean something to us too such as Teenage Cancer and Help for Heroes
Please help us out as little or as much as you can.Trust me its for an amazing cause. We've all had someone who has suffered in one way or another with cancer.
