Hi my name is Oscar; I would like you to help my friends because they are helping me.
I am 8 months old and my home is in Portstewart, Northern Ireland. At 6 months of age I was airlifted from Belfast to The Great North Children’s Hospital, Newcastle upon Tyne on Boxing Day 2011.
I was born without an immune system and am unable to fight even minor infections. Something like the ‘common cold ‘passed on a by my mummy’s kiss could be fatal.
I need to have a Bone Marrow transplant, and so for at least 6 months, I will be living in a high-tech sterile room known as ‘The Bubble’, where a fantastic team take care of me.
Mummy and Daddy (Olivia and Pearse McLauglin) are able to stay near to me in accommodation which is funded by the “Bubble Foundation” a charitable organisation that provides all sorts of support and raises funds for medical equipment, toys and educational aids, welfare of the babies, children and their families, and importantly to fund research required at this cutting edge of paediatric practice.

The Bubble Foundation UK supports the Children's Bone Marrow Transplant Unit at Newcastle General Hospital. The unit treats babies born without an immune system, who , without a bone marrow transplant would die before their first birthday. It also treats older children with other immune conditions.
