Hi guys, first of all thanks for logging on to make a donation to this absolutely brilliant cause, Michelle and I cannot heap enough praise on the amazing job these guys and girls do.

As you are probably already aware our little boy Finley was born on 02/09/09 at home and had a totally normal birth, it was only after 5 days during a routine visit from Claire (the midwife who delivered him) she noticed he wasnt looking 100%, after popping down to Poole Hospital we very quickly learned that he had a major problem with his heart, the condition is known as TRANSPOSITION OF THE GREAT ARTERIES and basically means that the two main arteries that supply the body with oxygenated blood were the wrong way round which meant he was not getting any fresh blood to his body, had this not been picked up the results would have been fatal, there is only a finite period of time the body can survive in this condition, usually between 5 and 7 days.

We were very quickly transferred over to the PICU ward in Southampton General Hospital where he received the most amazing care you could imagine, there was someone watching over him 24/7 and never more than 3 foot away from him, on his first full day there he was rushed down to theatre for emergency open heart surgery to correct the problem.

The surgery went very well and we in no doubt that the tremendous care that followed contributed massively to Finley's speedy recovery, he remained in PICU until the friday of that week when it was decided that he was well enough to move to the cardiac ward E1.

As I write this we have just arrived at home following a further 11 days on E1 recovering, the whole experience was a rollercoaster ride of emotions, but made so much easier by the love, care and attention that was given not only Finley but us aswell, these people do an incredible job, one that i was totally unaware of before now, and need all the help they can, not only to maintain the good work that they are already doing, but also to provide other things to help the families of children who suffer these conditions, facilities such as the overnight rooms that we stayed in during his time there, kitchen facilities for the parents and loved ones to eat, and a lounge in which to try and rest and recuperate.

This is our story so far but there are many more to come im sure so please dig deep and give anything you can to help raise a huge sum of money for these amazing people!!!!!

Many Thanks

Owen, Michelle and Finley Brehaut
