Dorothy and Giles say:
Brilliant - you've clicked through - thank you!
This bank holiday weekend we're walking from our flat in London to Carfax in Oxford. The route we're taking is around 65 miles, we're leaving on Friday afternoon and we're planning on getting there by Monday morning.
Why? Because we're idiots. Also, because it sounded fun. And we've both hammered up and down the M40 hundreds of times in the course of our lives and never really appreciated the journey. Plus it's a good opportunity to spend some time together, and maybe even find a few pubs along the way...
We've decided to try to raise some money for charity in the process, and we're supporting St Mungo's, which is a great charity that seeks to tackle the causes and consequences of homelessness. We have quite a few rough sleepers in Westminster and we wanted to do something to help them. St Mungo's doesn't just give people a place to sleep; it also provides health services and semi-independent housing, and has a terrific programme of work and learning services - teaching people skills such as gardening, bricklaying, plastering and so on. They also help with job searching, CVs and other skills vital for giving people a chance to break the cycle of homelessness.
We'd be so grateful for any donation you'd be prepared to make, however small.
Thank you!
Giler and Dot.
Note for the wary: donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
