A BIG PAINTING for the BIG PROJECT
On Saturday 8th September I will be painting a large landscape in oils (based on a nature spot in South Oxford) in St Luke’s Church, Oxford, made up of 12 separate canvases which will be joined together to form a composite work. The final size will be 48 inches by 80 inches.
I will updating this page until 8th September with my preparatory work and photos for the painting.
I will start the work at 8 in the morning and plan to finish at 8 in the evening. Working for about an hour on each panel, it should take me about 12 hours to complete.
Friends and visitors are most welcome to come along to St Luke's (Canning Crescent, Oxford OX1 4XB) that day (anytime between 8 am and 8pm) to see me and other participating artists at work.
On the same day St Luke's will also be welcoming cyclists and walkers who are doing the Oxfordshire Churches' Ride and Stride sponsored event. Refreshments will be available between 10 and 6. The church is also taking part in the Oxford Open Doors festival that weekend (we are listed on the Open Door's website).
We also hope to be able to offer a children's art session for a couple of hours in the afternoon – to be confirmed.
All money raised will go towards the remaining funds needed for St Luke’s Big Project, which is to renew the church/community building and the building of an extra special activities room (we are 80% of the way there). (The Bridge Builder Trust is the parish charity that manages the fund on behalf of St Luke's.)
